The Cadillac Footliters Present...

Special Footliters Statement

To our dear community,

We’re writing to provide an update on the Cadillac Footliters’ response to the COVID-19 situation.

Last night, Governor Whitmer closed schools and ordered the cancellation of events, assemblies, and large groups of people due to the spread of COVID-19.  This is a rapidly evolving and unprecedented public health situation, which we all bear a responsibility to address.

In response, and out of an abundance of caution for our casts, crews, and audience members, we made the difficult decision to alter our current audition, rehearsal, and show schedule as follows:

  • Lion King Junior rehearsals are canceled until further notice.
  • Lion King Junior performances are postponed pending licensing approval.
  • Mamma Mia auditions are postponed until further notice.
  • Cinderella, our teen production, will be moved to a later season.

Like you, we are devastated by the world’s situation, our place in it, and the canceling or postponing of the activities and interactions we hold most dear - art and theatre.  But we will overcome this together.

There’s a famous saying in theater: “The show must go on.” As the health and safety of our Footliters’ and greater Cadillac communities must be everyone’s top priority, we look forward to engaging, enriching, and entertaining the community for years to come—just as we have for the last 56—at a safer time.

Thank you for your love and support.

April 3-4 and 10-11 -- Junior Players

Footliters’ Juniors roar into action on April 3, 2020 with Lion King, Jr., the much-loved adaptation of the full Broadway show with area students between the ages of 8 and 13.

A lively stage adaptation of the Academy Award-winning 1994 Disney film, The Lion King Jr is the story of a young lion prince living in the flourishing African Pride Lands. Born into the royal family, precocious cub Simba spends his days exploring the sprawling savanna grasslands and idolizing his kingly father, Mufasa, while youthfully shirking the responsibility his position in life requires. When an unthinkable tragedy, orchestrated by Simba’s wicked uncle, Scar, takes his father’s life, Simba flees the Pride Lands, leaving his loss and the life he knew behind. Eventually companioned by two hilarious and unlikely friends, Simba starts anew. But when weight of responsibility and a desperate plea from the now ravaged Pride Lands come to find the adult prince, Simba must take on a formidable enemy, and fulfill his destiny to be king. A vibrant and exciting tale from the great creatives at Disney, The Lion King is a story of love and redemption that nobody should miss. The Lion King Junior is produced through special arrangement with MTI - Music Theater International, and will run April 3-4, 10-11.

June 11-13 and 18-20

Musical fans won’t want to miss Footliters’ final adult show of the season the weekends of June 12 and 19, 2020—the incredibly popular Mamma Mia, based on the movie of the same name and music from ABBA.

ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

The story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, creating an unforgettable show. A large cast, non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers combine to make Mamma Mia! a guaranteed smash hit for any theatre. A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle you'll never forget! Mamma Mia is presented through special arrangement with MTI, Music Theater International.

July 31- August 1 and August 7-8 -- Teen Show

Season 56 closes with a classic as Footliters’ upper Juniors perform Rodgers’ and Hammerstein’s Cinderella the weekends of July 31 and August 7, 2020.

Rogers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella is the new Broadway adaptation of the classic musical. This contemporary take on the classic tale features Rodgers & Hammerstein's most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It's Possible” and “Ten Minutes Ago,” alongside a hilarious and romantic libretto by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane as well as some new characters, and surprising twists. Cinderella (Broadway Version) is produced through licensing arrangement with Rogers and Hammerstein International.

“Fifty-five years of enrichment and entertainment has led us to this moment—an incredible and expanded 56th season,” said Joseph Baumann, Cadillac Footliters President. “As we search for own home to continue Footliters’ growth in and impact on our community, we could not be more proud of what we are about to show you.”
